Our Story

Your Visit Starts Here

A little window into who we are … we’re Jill and Lee, locals of the Grimsby-Cleethorpes area. We have been married 35 years in June and were super excited to launch The Studio in April 2023 and this new business venture together. Having worked full-time for the whole of our adult lives, we’re very much looking forward to this next chapter. We love this area and all it has to offer and very much hope to instil a genuine love for Cleethorpes and it’s surrounds in the guests who stay with us.

We are now happy to add to the Hip Haus Portfolio with The Chalet, also located in Humberston on the edge of Cleethorpes and a hop, skip and jump form the sandy beach. Available from June 2024.

Huge lovers of music and the arts, we can shine a light on the unique nooks and crannies to be found across the region, from music and entertainment venues to art galleries, independent retailers and restaurants.

Our vision for The Studio was to create modern and unique holiday accommodation in what was once a garage turned art studio.

Lee is a photographer and artist and The Studio was renovated in 2016 to enable him to explore his burgeoning creative talent. Jill is an entrepreneurial spirit who has run her own home accessories business as well as later on training to become a teacher. Both are passionate about art, interiors and travel. They have explored some amazing destinations, from New Zealand and Japan, to Cuba and vast areas of the United States.

The Chalet is our newest addition to the Hip Haus portfolio and offers us the ability to accommodate families and friends for a chilled week away by the beach. The Chalet has been in our family since 2014 and had previously been used solely by my parents who have now handed over the keys to me to run as a holiday let for others to enjoy as much as they have over the last 12 years. A stones throw away from a beautiful sandy beach, dog friendly all year round, sometimes it's hard to believe you are in the UK.

Our Commitment

We aim to provide guests with a warm welcome and exemplary standards of hospitality and cleanliness. We encourage recycling where possible and have provided different bins for ease.

Local Area

Guests can easily walk, cycle or drive to the seafront at Cleethorpes directly from the accommodation. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk and gain access to the start of the path to the seafront. In the area you will find numerous out of town retailers and food outlets, plus a cinema and theatre complex, mini railway and a boating lake. We highly recommend a visit the ‘smallest pub on the planet’ – The Signal Box Inn. The former signal box is now a tiny pub. Seating is outside as well as under cover and is popular with locals and tourists alike, especially for those who have taste for local ciders and beers! It’s a great place to sit and watch the world go by. Venture further into Cleethorpes (proper) and you will find a seafront promenade, pier and all manner of arcades and take away food options. Further back from the seafront is a row of independent shops and cafes that help retain the traditional charm of this Victorian-era seaside destination.
